edgefiles.com is the primary download location for any file linked from various sites on the edgenetwork, and our hosted sites. We're not a large mirror, like FilePlanet or FileFront - nor do we have a shot in hell at comparing ourselves to them ;-) This is mostly just a serving location for our own sites. We currently don't, and probably never will, have a "Subscription Service", and as such we don't request donations either (as we have no special treat to give back as thanks.. least not yet). All of our servers are free to use, with not necessarily the largest download capacity available.. but often enough works just fine. We even try to be dialup-friendly by providing a mirror just for the dialup guys! (As the network founder, I was on dialup for the first 3 years of this network - I know the hell of downloading today's huge files).
This 'welcome' page will one day be replaced with the kind of content you expect on a file serving site, latest files/popular files etc. edgefiles.com is most likely getting yet another overhaul on how it functions, improving it tenfold - especially for our hosted sites. May take some time though.
In closing, I'd like to yet again voice a plea for anyone with bandwidth to spare - if they would kindly let us abuse it? ;-) Please contact us at founders(at)edgenetwork.org if so! Already a big thanks to FileFront for providing an alternative download location, one which FileFront subscribers can really make use of. So what are you doing here reading this anyway? ;-)
